|IMPORTANT TRAIL INFORMATION
EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY - Please note that the Town of Haverhill has PERMANENTLY CLOSED the Blackmount Rail Trail to OHRV use.
The closure prohibits ATV's from the corridor and the town will be enforcing that prohibition. The Backmount trail was purchased by the Town of Haverhill with Federal Transportation funds in the 1990's with ownership being transfered to the Town at that time. The purchase of the trail was intended for use as a bicycle and pedestrain transportation corridor as an alternative for automobiles according to the application for funds submitted by the Haverhill Trail Committee at that time.
Under Federal regulations that govern the Transportation Enhancement program ONLY NON-MOTORiZED use of the corridor is allowed. Hiking, Biking other pedestrian use, and snowmobile use (based on state law definition) are allowable uses of the Corridor.
ATV, OHRV and other motorized use of the corridor is not permitted The trail connects to the Ammonoosuc Recreation Trail in Woodsville.
THERE IS NO LONGER PARKING AT OR RIDING SOUTH OF OCEAN STATE JOB LOTS on the railbed. .”
